Khaliyah Stroud, MS Clinical Psychology Intern

Thank you for choosing Paula S. Newman, PLLC Behavioral Health Counseling and Consulting dba Family Enrichment Associates. My name is Khaliyah Stroud and I am a graduate intern. I hold a Baccalaureate degree (BA) in General Psychology from Johnson C. Smith University. I am continuing my studies in Clinical Psychology as a master’s student at Capella University. Thus, I am considered a graduate intern who is still under the supervision of licensed counselors and psychologists.

As a clinician, I am interactive and take a strengths-based perspective to treatment. This means that I utilize goals, we will create together, to help you create a plan for healing and progress. I draw from different theoretical orientations, including cognitive-behavioral, Adlerian theory, and family systems. I utilize a variety of techniques including psychoeducation, relaxation skills training, cognitive restructuring, role-playing, mindfulness, therapeutic games, and parenting skills training. Additionally, I may assign tasks between appointments to help strengthen the skills acquired through therapy sessions. Thus, it is important for you and your child to take an active role in treatment, during and outside of therapy sessions. Similarly, communication is essential to a healthy therapeutic relationship. I will create an environment that is safe, honest, and respectful and will include you in the treatment planning and treatment process.
